When I was at the Dutch Design Week at Eindhoven this is what I found: The last years technology has slipt into our lives more and more. Most people are affraid for the impact it can have in the future. Movies are predicting horrible scenario's and that is what scares the most people. Mobile phones, smart houses everything can be controlled automatically.

Are we taking this to far? Since the internet is the information source of most people these days it has improven itself to an higher level. Myself, I can't live without it. This seems dramatic but it's true. Whenever I need something I look it up on the internet.

Technology is going to control our lives. This effects our way of living. People want to control the lights, warmth and kitchen from one app or panel. Car's are driving themselves and people can sit in the back working or prepare themselves for an meeting. Highways are loading the electric cars up and so in about ten years the children will not know different than that everything goes threy technology.

People will connect emotionally to technology. I see this trend coming up more and more. It is basically about the connection between our lives and technology. We now see the advantages of the use of technology and how it can improve our Quality of Life.

This trend transaltes in the following signals:

The Baboo by Kimmy Ansems.

This is for parents who need to let their baby in the couveause after bitrth. This is an very emotional thing where the Baboo is the solution. The Baboo connect the couveuse to the living room of the parents. It gives the parents real life information about the situation of the baby. This is an example that technology is becoming more human.

Sound waves - Sorama

We are continuously surrounded by sound WAVES, but we never see them. The sound WAVES you produce are visualized by this interactive installation. Discover how your whistling, clapping, singing or screaming will be translated into WAVES. We can connect this to the thing words don't hurt. Words and sounds are definitaly touchable threw this project. I think we can make children alert of what they say to other people because of this.
