So we act eco-friendly, we eat biologic food, wash after 21:00 and take the bike to work. But when we go on vacation we get on the first airplane and go to the other side of the world. We know everything in our own city, but do we now where we can stay sustainable in other city’s or countries? Greenhopping is a website I found where they collect information about more than 200 green destinations listed worldwide. Now you can discover and compare their good practices like : labels, certificates, awards, protected patrimonies, initiatives and green businesses.
Than another nice collaboration between two cross tourism sustainability certification programs. Travelife and Rainforest alliance teamed up. As well as being united in our vision to improve the welfare of local people and the environment by practical action on the ground, our auditing methods and assessment criteria are aligned enough to enable us to confidently display our certification marks side by side.

For the tourism businesses they work with, the collaboration means increased promotion to the European market and a cost benefit of having to pay for just one audit, whilst achieving two separate certifications. In the Netherlands we try this with the countryside. We want to encourage people to go on vacation to country sides to let people see and discover that we need to respect the place where our food is coming from and how it is al made, let not forget all the hard work the farmers are doing! In the sectors Leisure it is important to support these kind of colloborations otherwise we can no longer go and find the real locals. Last week I was at a travalling agency just doing some research for a vacation and one place I would love to go in the future is Cuba. The women who was helping said If I wanted to experience Cuba like it was, I had to go before 2020. She told me that in 5 years Cuba will no longer be Cuba like it is. It will westernized. With this I would like to finish this blogpost because as a Lifestyle professional I have to support the sustainable actions people do to provide from westernizing everything. Something we just have to let it be as it is.
